Today was a good day...My one main goal was to venture out and find work shoes (shoes you change into when you're in the school; you can't wear your outside shoes inside). Yesterday I looked in the outlet mall thats really close, and I've been in several times before, but was disappointed; nothing looked comfortable enough, and nothing was in the price range I was looking for. Today I decided to seek out "Homeplus" another large chain store that supposedly sells lots of random stuff...like Walmart or Super Target. And it was a winner! There weren't as many anxious sales people around, watching me like a shoplifter, and they have EVERYTHING! I found a bunch of stuff I wanted to buy, but managed to keep it to the essentials (shoes, bread, nail polish remover-which I couldn't find anywhere else!, and....a small bag of m&ms). I found some cool stick-on decorations for my blank, boring walls; I will definitely stock up on those when I get paid. I almost got excited when I thought I had found mattress pads to go on my block of concrete they call a bed....but was disappointed. What they called mattress pads were like thin quilted blankets. I think I may just buy a really fluffy comforter and sleep on top of that. Or give in and become a back-sleeper...After that I took my book and read in the park. It was really nice (though starting to get a little cold).
But here are just some quick random notes, since I haven't written about sat. First, when I was in the park on sat, I managed to walk around and play solitaire on my ipod till dusk; I was delighted to find out that the many fountains light up in little shows! As I was walking by, delighted, I passed some park benches, and heard what I thought were leaves scraping across the pavement. They were not leaves; they were fat little brown mice! Rushing back and forth from under the benches!! Add PARK MICE to the small list of animals I've seen here! (to birds and tiny "apartment" dogs).
Now to add to the list of things that don't exist here (add to:grass); cold cuts!!! There is NO sliced meat or cheese! (in fact, I haven't really seen ANY cheese...). It's weird; and I've read on some message boards that people will actually order cold cuts through the internet!
So, to partially sum things up, we have mice, but no cheese. There.
