Anyway, work has settled down to almost a routine, like any 9-5 job. Each day I teach I get a little better, and I can tell my co-teachers are relaxing a little. Though, today I taught 4th grade, and my co-teacher made some kids stay after class (I completely missed whatever was going on). To my astonishment, one of the girls started crying! My co-teacher wasn't even yelling, and definitely didn't hit her or anything. I guess she just really knows how to lay the smack down in Korean... Ah, now that's power...In a classroom, at least. Now I just need my other co-teacher to take some pages out of her book.
Weekend time has gotten more interesting, and that is one place FB has been useful. Though I wouldn't ever think of meeting up with people I met on FB at home, for some reason that rule doesn't apply here. Last weekend I went to a palace in Seoul with a girl I met on FB, and then I tagged along to go out with some of her friends that night.
Weather wise, it's definitely getting colder. Yesterday I wore my coat to school; great in the morning, HOT in the afternoon! Why can't it be ONE temperature all day? AND I forgot to wear deodorant, so I just opened all the windows in my classroom, and totally froze all the little kids. They kept saying it was cold and hugging themselves...but I didn't sweat, thus didn't smell, so mission accomplished. It was worth it :)
Got my ARC card today!!! Yay!! Tomorrow: Cell Phone!!! (though I don't think it will be international, so Yay! for skype still, lol). Next: Reliable Internet!!! And Mom, Tim, or Deb, no skype tomorrow, cause apparently I DO have to work, and earlier....I don't really know how that happened...but I'm still on for Sat morning (YOUR fri night, lol).
well, i'm glad you are finally settling in. those poor skinny freezing children! i thought you always carried deoderant in your bag to keep this from happening? how does the whole 9-5 job feel? do you like the stability, or do you feel boxed in? What do you do for lunch when you're at school - do you bring it, or do you go to a caf?
ReplyDeleteI carry deodorant NOW, haha...I did that at home, cause of my no airconditioning in the car, but here i didn't really think about it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I eat school lunch with the other teachers. Its always pretty good, and it gives me a chance to try korean food. I have to pay a tiny amount each week thats taken out of my paycheck anyway, so I might as well eat it!
