Two for One

So I'm combining tues and weds, mostly because nothing much happened on tues...My co-teacher told me last week she'd come to visit me this week on tues or weds, so I spent tues in my apartment, waiting. I didn't want to miss her, and had no idea when she would come by (side note, I have now read one and a half of the three books I brought with me). Luckily, she came this (weds) afternoon, and took me to the hospital to get my health check. I got blood drawn, peed (sp? I guess I've never had to spell that...) in a cup, had a chest x-ray, my height and weight taken, a hearing test, and an eye test. It was pretty thorough, I felt like I was in first grade again. I guess I'm healthy, they didn't tell me anything, just wrote a bunch of illegible notes (doctor handwriting, in Korean). I go back in a week for my test results, and if everything comes back okay (no cocaine, heroin...;) ), then I have to go and get my alien registration card. whew.
After that, my coteacher told me what stop to get off the subway to get to school, and she's going to meet me at the station on fri morning and walk with me the rest of the way to the school. She also brought me the books I'll be using to teach, and I got a total flashback to the first couple of years I took spanish. They even have these pictures at the beginning of the chapters, and it asks the students to say whats going on, and I wouldn't even know whats going on if I didn't read the teacher version, ha! I would post one here, but nothing seems to let me load pics (blogspot, facebook, even flickr stopped loading at 23%).
Anyway, I rounded off my day with grocery shopping. I found these little dumpling looking things in the frozen foods, and thought they looked amazing...cooked them up, and instead of pork, or beef, or some other kind of good meat, even a tasty vegetable, what do I find when I bite into it? Bean paste. Purple bean paste. It was weird, and the breading was too sweet...and I have like 10 more of the little buggers in my freezer. I'll have to find some sauce or something to block out the taste (I refuse to throw them away).
So thats it; School on fri, so stay tuned!!! Hopefully the sixth grade classes aren't as bad as I've heard....(oh, I'll be teaching 4th and 6th grade).
Good night all!!

  1. That sounds pretty gross about the dumplings... too bad you can't read korean. Your picture issue sounds like a bandwidth issue - you don't have enough power to download the image (have you tried making them really small, just to see if that makes a difference?) Also, you could try emailing something to me - although it'll probably time out too. That's so frustrating!
